Jesse Woodson James (September 5, 1847 – April 3, 1882) born in 1847 in Clay County Missouri. James was the leader of the James-Younger gang, as well as a guerrilla. James robbed stagecoaches, banks, and trains across the midwest. Despite the brutality of his crimes, James and his brother Frank gained national fame. After almost 20 years of crime, James was gunned down by one of his newest recruits- Tom Ford, a coward hoping for amnesty from previous crimes and a reward on James' head.
